Where to Find, and How to Determine a Good Rescue Shelter
There are many compassionate people who also love the Akita breed of dogs but haven’t yet find the good place from where to obtain such a dog. You can get the dog to love a lifetime from an animal rescue shelter.
There are big differences between animal rescue shelters and dog pounds.
An animal rescue shelter won’t euthanize dogs or any other animal, and this makes it different from a dog pound. Usually, dog pounds catch the dogs that wonder unconstrained on the streets.
These dogs will be kept at the dog pound for a few days, and if the owner does not recover it or other people do not adopt the dog, it will be euthanized. In contrast with a dog pound, an animal rescue center is run by a compassionate nonprofit organization with the purpose of saving, not killing animals. The activity of an animal rescue organization or group addresses to all those animals that stray on the streets, or that have been abandoned by their owners on the side of the road, to those puppies raised in puppy mills or to animals that are abused or neglected by their owners. These dogs are taken to the animal rescue shelters where they will be cared for groomed and brought back to health. So the purpose of an animal rescue shelter is to not only save the lives of these poor animals, but they will bring them back to health and try to place them in loving compassionate homes.
If a person is looking for an animal rescue, or an akita rescue shelter in order to adopt a dog, all they have to do is a simple search either in the phone book or on the Internet, and of course humane societies in compassionate animal societies are wonderful resources to find an animal shelter. A good animal shelter should be clean and organized. The dogs in there should be on their way of recovering their health. Good rescue centers have enough space to keep the dogs and other animals in appropriate sanitary conditions.
Animal shelters are funded by a variety of donations. The personnel in the shelter should use these funds judiciously to take good care for their animals.
Akita dogs rescued from shelters have all their shots done, are sprayed and neutered. You don’t need to worry about the health of your dog when you adopt it.
Any major health issues or personality deficiencies have been identified and cured.
Nevertheless, the dogs arrived in rescue shelters have been rejected by their owners.
They suffered psychic traumas and they need to be recovered.
Though adopting akita rescue dogs can seem a cost-efficient way to save them, you need to be patient with your dog.
The dogs of this breed need ongoing training, and their owners need to show patience and learn all the needed information about their training and personality. This is a personality trait that is unique to this breed. You will need a lot of work for the proper training of your Akita rescued dog.
However once the Akita rescue has established itself and submit it to its human alpha master, they make extremely loyal pets to any pet owner would be glad to have.
