The Truth About Bark Off

Everybody is talking about this new product that has become available recently called Bark Off. Every link that one looks at seems to be just another product pitch, rather than anybody giving any details about what it really does, or how it works, etc.

How does the device actually work? What is the method behind it? It sounds too good to be true, so what are the disadvantages of using this thing? With only advertisements to answer your questions it turns out to be rather difficult to get any answers at all. At the very least, you should know how it works to help train your dog. Have you ever noticed how your dog has come to expect certain things at certain times throughout the day?

Dogs are typically creatures of habit. Barking, unfortunately, is a habit they take to very easily. They develop habits rather easily, which is why they are often easy to train. Of course, this is a pattern of behavior that can have you tearing your hair out and avoiding the angry scowls of your neighbors if it is not addressed. They see or hear something and they start themselves off on a tirade because that’s what they are used to doing. It is the routine.

You distract them. The reason they continue these behaviors is because they don’t have a reason not to.

This is basically what the Bark Off system does. It is triggered by the sound of a bark, so if the dog barks during a time when barking is inappropriate, it can change the dog’s behavior pattern by distracting it with an ultrasonic sound. Once they are distracted, they tend to forget what they were doing in the first place. It may take a few days before the pattern of behavior is broken completely, and it is also possible that the results may eventually wear off if it is used too often and the dog becomes accustomed to the sound. The only thing you may want to be careful with is continuing to use it after they have stopped the nuisance barking pattern, as it is likely they will become desensitized to the distraction.
