Petsafe Fence - Humane and Effective Way to Keep Your Pet Safe

A pet containment system simply intends to keep your pet “jailed” at home, where it can be safe from outside elements. That way it can’t just bolt up and run away, get taken by strangers, get wounded in dog fights, or get run over by an anonymous vehicle. Note that that’s just a short list of potential worries a dog owner must face. This article is a short walk-through for pet owners who are looking to get an invisible fence for their pet.

Common types of pet containment systems

In-ground units are the most popular. In-ground units are essentially buried wires through which radio signals are broadcast - the wires are buried around an area. This can be around your yard, where you want your dog to stay in. A unit is installed in your home, plugged in or battery powered. This device will broadcast radio signals through the wires buried around the marked area. You don’t need to dig deep for the wires - a few inches will do. In-ground units come with a special collar your dog is to wear.

When your dog comes near the boundary wires, the collar senses the radio signals and lets out a warning tone. Suppose your dog stays there, or walks past the wires - the collar lets out a static shock, a buzz. Don’t worry about the electric buzz - it’s harmless, but it is enough to get your dog’s attention, which is important.

Give some time, and with adequate training from the pet owner, the dog will link the tone as something that warns of a buzz, and will not want to go further the marked boundaries. So your dog will stay inside the boundaries marked by the wires. This is normally called an invisible fence - a pet containment system that is growing in popularity due to its effectiveness.

Other kinds of invisible pet fencing exist, and with no wires. One such variant makes use other ways to “mark” a perimeter’s boundaries and tracks your pet’s position differently. One type uses a device that sends out radio signals in all directions up to a certain range - that range is the limit of the perimeter. Similar to the in-ground unit, this type also uses a collar that beeps and buzzes when the dog gets to far from the “edge” of the transmission.

An effective pet fence can save you a lot of money, time, and worry. You naturally spend a lot of time worrying about your dog; it’s likely you’ll spend money trying to track down your dog when it’s lost. Among the most popular electric dog fences out there is the petsafe fence. There’s no question about it’s ease of installation - your dog will also take less time getting used to its beeps and buzz, and it will keep to the perimeter in no time.
