How An Electric Dog Fence Works
Even if your dog is your best friend, I’m sure you don’t want it to go to areas of your property where he could cause damage or get hurt, such as your rose garden, your swimming pool or, if you have a very big dog, the area where your small children play. A very good solution that has given constant results is installing an electric dog fence, which will keep the dog from going beyond the limits that you establish for it, barring the dog from going to delicate areas of your property or to your neighbor’s property.
The Way An Electric Dog Fence Works
An electric dog fence involves two main components: the first one is a collar with a radio signal receiver that the dog has to wear; the second one is a wire that is buried along the perimeter of the area the dog will be restricted to.
When the wire detects that the collar the dog is wearing is approaching, it will transmit a signal to the collar, making it beep. Most dogs will instantly return by the way they came when they hear the sound, but if a dog decides to cross the fence, then the collar will administer a mild, non-hurtful electrical shock. When a dog receives the shock, it learns to keep away from the fence.
Many pet stores will sell you electrical dog fences, although they may also call them wireless fences or invisible fences; you can get waterproof collars too.
Benefits of an Electric Dog Fence
Besides protecting your own and your neighbor’s property from damage, an electric dog fence has other advantages as well. The reason why the electrical dog fence is also called an “invisible” fence is because it’s underground and thus you can’t normally see it; this means it won’t interfere with the look of your property. With time, your own plants will grow without any hindrance and they’ll become a much prettier natural fence.
Another benefits of the electric dog fence is that your dog will not be able to run out of your property and chase after something that excites it, like a person with another dog or a running car. And of course, your dog will be able to run around the area you design for it, with the freedom of not having to be locked in or tied up to a tree.
With the use of an electric dog fence, your view from inside and outside of your home will not be obstructed, and is also beneficial to you if your neighborhood community forbids the installation of traditional fences
Don’t forget to compare prices on online pet stores as well. There are some offers out there that can be really inexpensive. So, if you want to keep your dog safe and secure, try an electric dog fence. In the end, it’ll be worth it.
