Five Ways To Put together Homemade Bird Feeders
Most people who love birds would put a bird feeder in their yard to supply foods for the birds. In this way, they are getting the birds’ attention and attracting them to stop by and eat. The device use to put bird foods can either be bought or made. However building one yourself can save a you a lot of money as it is fairly easy to do so. The mechanism of a bird feeder is simple - you put the bird food to attract birds that are freely roaming around.
Homemade bird feeders can be made in different materials. You may find these materials either in your backyard, inside your house or anywhere visible. Usually the items that you think are useless can actually be put used as a material. A lot of individuals would rather make their own homemade bird feeders than buy one because it cuts off the costs of purchasing one significantly. And by making your own, it gives you control on what you are making with the designs, materials to use and the size.
Homemade bird feeders are made from your choice of materials. You can even recycle used plastic bottles or jugs. It’s too easy to make your own feeder. An example of the material that you can use would be an empty plastic bottle; here are five steps on how to build one:
First thing you need to do is to clean the bottles you’ll be using and wipe them dry after to ensure that when you put the seeds or bird foods it will not get spoil.
Next, you need to cut holes all around the bottle where you will put 2 or 3 sticks from one hole and across to another hole where it allows the birds to land on the sticks. Make sure the sticks will be long enough for the birds to have space to land on. Other holes are where you place the bird food and for the birds to insert their beaks. After this you must have bird food ready such as sunflower seeds or other seeds that they might like; you can purchase them in local pet shops.
Then get a strong rope so you can tie it in your plastic bottle firmly. What you should do is to tie the rope in the upper are of your bottle. Finally, complete your bird feeder by spotting the right spot to hang it so that birds can actually land on it. Find a tree and hang the feeder not too high from the ground and not to low to frighten birds from people. It is important that in making your own homemade bird feeders, you have an adult supervising you for safety purposes.
