Considering Buying A Siamese Fighting Fish?

Siamese fighting fish are awesome pets. They are possibly the most aesthetically pleasing fish, which is why so many people are attracted to them and decide to buy them and keep them as pets; the only problem is that they require a lot more care and attention than almost any other type of pet fish.
Many people are disuaded from buying a betta fish because of this. This is a shame, because betta fish are actually easy to care for if you know how. Caring for your betta fish is very easy when you know how. As long as you follow the steps in this article, you will be on track to have a happy, healthy and fun betta fish!

Your Betta’s Diet

Feeding your betta fish regularly is an important step in making sure that your betta is healthy, just like many other pets. You need to make sure that you feed your betta the right amount of food, otherwise there is a good chance that the leftover food will grow bacteria, leading to your betta becoming ill.

It is really important to vary your betta’s diet, to help ensure that they get all of the nutrition they need. I always try to feed my betta fish a combination of different betta pellets, which helps to vary their diet and also provide all of the necessary nutrition that they need to stay alive.

Choosing and Maintaining a tank

A ten gallon tank is the minnimum size tank that you need for your betta. Avoid putting accessories in your new tank because it can cause your new tank to be contaminated with disease, which can be fatal for your betta. Do not put your betta fish in the tank before the pump and filter has had a chance to go through one cycle. It is important to keep the tank temperature at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can Betta Fish Share Tanks?

Do not put your betta fish together. Betta fish are also known as Siamese Fighting Fish, and for good reason too! Two betas will fight to the death if you put them in the same tank. Don’t be tempted to try it, the results are nearly always fatal.

Breeding betta fish is the only excpetion to this rule. Caution must be taken when breeding betta fish, because once they have finished breeding, the male will try to kill the female betta! This is the main reason why betta fish breeding is so hard.
