Bark Collars For Small Dogs - Shopping Tips That Work

Aren’t small dogs so cute? They are until they do that thing. Yes, its the annoying barking that won’t stop - that’s what we’re talking about. To cut the embarrassing scene quickly, some dog owners simply go away with their barking mad pets in two; there’s a way to make this embarrassment go away, though. Just look into bark collars for small dogs and see what it can offer.

You could always have your dog trained by a licensed dog trainer, but that’s not a luxury anyone can afford. Despite attempts by dog owners to remove their dogs from bark-enticing circumstances, or to reduce the causes of the barking, the best way to effectively stop all that barking nuisance is to get a bark collar. Buying one isn’t that hard.

Basically, all bark collars for small dogs regardless of size are sense-and-trigger devices. To dog trainers and veteran dog owners, barking is a kind of behavior that loops, repeats itself, when left unchecked and unstopped. When dogs start barking - a self-encouraging behavior - you need to get the dog’s attention in a way that makes it stop barking; and do that over and over again. With some time, the dog gets used to the collar and the threat of annoyance that goes wit it - bark and the annoyance starts again; it’s a conditioned response.

There are three (3) types of such annoyance or interruption - the static shock (uses electricity), sound (uses high-pitched sound only dogs can hear), and spray (uses harmless scented liquid). You need to settle which type you prefer - based on your research, budget, and perhaps personal stand on which type does not hurt animals. There are some people who are against the use of static or shock collars on their pets - hence, alternatives were created. There’s one alternative that works just as well as the static type of collar - the citronella spray collar.

If you choose this type, what’s left is to make sure the brand you get is suited or designed for small dogs - read the product descriptions carefully or ask the dog supply clerk about it. Be certain, too, that the device’s nodes are in contact with the skin on the throat of your dog. Remember that it is triggered by the sound of its bark as well as the vibration generated by the bark itself. The collar could slip around or be impeded by fur - in either case the collar will not activate consistently. This can result in a failure to train your small dog effectively.
