What are ticks on cats?

Once the ticks fill themselves up with the blood of the cat, they will drop off and lay their eggs. They normally lay thousands of eggs.

Ticks are not normally something that cat owners have to be worried about. As we have mentioned, in most cases they are relatively harmless.

There are some instances though, where ticks can carry diseases. It goes without saying that these diseases can be harmful to your cat, which is why they need to be removed.

Removing Ticks on Cats

You will fist need to fund a helper to hold the cat steady. Then, with the tweezers, firmly grasp the tick. Pull sharply and firmly on the tick and place it in the jar of alcohol. Following this you should swab the surrounding area with disinfectant.

Even if you have used gloves, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after the procedure. You should be constantly checking your cat for ticks. Do not let your cat pick up a disease.
