These days there are plenty of manufacturers who are providing collars which are exclusive, and they also have custom designed collars to suit your needs. Since you can virtually have any kind of collar designed as you please, custom dog collars make the perfect gift to both you and your dog, and even any other pet owner you may know, as they can easily reflect the personality of the pet owner.
Kinds of collars -
If you want your pet to stand out, you can easily have your collar made to include unique materials like leather, suede, vinyl and many precious metals such as platinum, silver, or gold. You may also find Rhinestone Dog Collar, and semi-precious or precious stones which will add a very beautiful touch to the collar.
Crystals, zircons, rubies, and diamonds even, are being used to effectively add flare and personality to customized dog collars.
The most common and popular use of gemstones on collars, is crystals placed to spell out your pet’s name onto the collar, and also to add unique patterns, if desired. Collars that are designed for your dog are good, because they are easily functional as a collar, and at the same time, they add beauty and charm to your dog’s collar.
Sizes -
It’s very important that you have the proper measurement for your dog’s collar, as not all charts and general sizes (small, medium, large etc…) will fit your dog, since the collars are customized in the first place.
Dog’s collars are measured in inches, and most often the bigger the dog, the larger their collar, however this is not always the case, but keep the following chart in mind:
- Tiny dogs (ex. teacup), 8-9 inches
- small dogs, 10 to 14 in
- Small/Medium dogs, 14-16in
- Medium dogs, 16 to 18 inches
- Large, 20-22 in
- Very large dogs- 22-24 inches
The width of a dog collar is most often ½-1 inch, so you do not have to worry about finding a measurement for this, unless you prefer to have a collar which is wider, then you can just ask for the collar to be customized to suit your preference.
A good example to help you figure out the scale of the chart, is to look at Jack Russels, as they most often fall into the small dog category, of about a 10-14 inch collar. Dogs such as labs and retrievers can fall anywhere between 14-20inches which means they could have a small collar, or a large collar depending on their neck circumference, and this is why you should always measure your dog’s size to make sure that his/her collar can fit adequately.
